HR Specialist – HR Operations, Onboarding, Payroll & Compliance

About the Role

At Pavago, one of our clients is hiring an HR Specialist to support day-to-day HR operations across the full employee lifecycle.

This is a hands-on HR operations role focused on onboarding, offboarding, HR compliance, payroll coordination, HRIS administration, employee support, and recruitment coordination.

You’ll work closely with leadership, recruiters, payroll teams, and employees to ensure HR processes are accurate, compliant, organized, and completed on time.

What You’ll Own

Onboarding & Offboarding

• Prepare offer letters, onboarding documents, employee packets, and orientation schedules

• Coordinate completion of:

• I-9 documentation

• E-Verify

• Tax forms

• Direct deposit information

• Required compliance documentation

• Ensure new hires have a smooth and organized onboarding experience

• Manage offboarding, including access removal, equipment retrieval, documentation, and exit coordination

HRIS & Employee Records

• Maintain accurate employee records in systems such as:

• BambooHR

• ADP

• Gusto

• Zenefits

• Similar HRIS platforms

• Process employee changes and maintain accurate organizational records

• Track PTO, benefits enrollment, and employee information

• Prepare reports on headcount, turnover, compliance, and other HR metrics

• Maintain organized and audit-ready employee files

Payroll & Benefits Coordination

• Support payroll preparation and reconciliation

• Validate employee hours, deductions, benefits, and payroll changes

• Coordinate with finance and payroll teams to resolve discrepancies

• Assist employees with benefits-related questions

• Support open enrollment and ongoing benefits administration

• Help ensure payroll information is accurate and submitted on time

HR Compliance & Policies

• Maintain HR policies, SOPs, and employee documentation

• Support compliance with U.S. employment requirements, including:

• FMLA

• FLSA

• ADA

• EEOC requirements

• Multi-state employment regulations

• Maintain accurate compliance records

• Support audits and documentation requests

• Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and workflows

Employee Support & HR Coordination

• Serve as a point of contact for employee questions regarding:

• Payroll

• Benefits

• PTO

• Policies

• HR processes

• Support employee engagement and performance management workflows

• Coordinate training and required compliance certifications

• Escalate sensitive employee relations matters appropriately

Recruitment & Hiring Support

• Post and maintain job openings across LinkedIn, Indeed, career pages, and other job boards

• Review resumes and support early-stage candidate screening

• Coordinate interviews between candidates and hiring teams

• Maintain professional candidate communication throughout the process

• Support recruiters and hiring managers with hiring administration and documentation

Required Experience & Skills

2+ years of experience in:

• Human Resources

• HR Operations

• People Operations

• HR Coordination

• Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms such as BambooHR, ADP, Gusto, Zenefits, or similar

• Familiarity with U.S. employment and labor compliance

• Experience supporting onboarding and offboarding processes

• Strong organizational and documentation skills

• Proficiency with:

• Google Workspace

• Microsoft Office

• Excel / Google Sheets

• HR reporting tools

• Strong written and verbal English communication

• High attention to detail and confidentiality

Nice to Have

• SHRM-CP, PHR, or related HR certification

• Multi-state HR or payroll experience

• International HR support experience

• HRIS implementation or optimization experience

• Experience in startups, SaaS, professional services, or high-growth companies

• Experience improving HR SOPs and operational workflows

What a Typical Day Looks Like

You may start your day reviewing onboarding tasks and updating employee information in the HRIS. From there, you might coordinate interviews, verify payroll inputs, answer employee questions about benefits or PTO, and prepare HR reports for leadership.

Throughout the day, you’ll keep documentation organized, support hiring and offboarding activities, resolve administrative issues, and ensure HR workflows stay compliant and on schedule.

In short: you keep HR operations organized, accurate, compliant, and employee-focused throughout the entire employee lifecycle.
